“I was first exposed to spoken word poetry at Bards and Brews, several years ago. Birmingham became the place that introduced me to poetry, spoken word, and the ways creativity can bring a community together. It is an experience I cherish and value and am grateful to be a part of.”
Christina Schmitt is a poet and teaching artist. Her work is interested in the interested in the intersections of grief and celebration. She currently works at a local Birmingham non-profit that supports breast cancer survivors, co-survivors, and the medical professionals who serve them.
