Lori Lasseter Hamilton

Birmingham is the chance to compete in poetry slams at coffee houses and see the roses at the botanical gardens, eat at hole-in-the-wall barbecue joints and international food stalls at the Pizitz. Seeing Phantom of the Opera at the Alabama Theatre and receiving life-saving cancer treatments at UAB Hospital. Birmingham means getting to share my words, and my heart, along with my fellow women artists of Sister City Connection at places like Desert Island Supply Company. This city means having the honor of sharing my poems about being a rape survivor at UAB’s Take Back the Night event every year.
